KEYNOTE: Learning Design in the Age of AI: Working and Leading Through Disruption

November 5, 2026 8:00 am - 9:00 am

AI is reshaping instructional design faster than most organizations are prepared for, changing not only how learning is created but the skills, roles, and expectations surrounding the people who create it. In this live episode of the Dr. Luke Hobson podcast from the DevLearn main stage, Luke is joined by Tessa Forshaw PhD. Harvard University, Commonwealth University professor, Dr. Karl Kapp, and Brandy Ford, Head of Learning Analytics and Technology at FM bringing perspectives from cognitive science and workforce learning, instructional design and technology, and enterprise L&D. Together, they’ll explore what this disruption looks like in real time: what AI is changing about the work, what learning professionals may need to learn—and unlearn—and what leaders should be thinking about as they guide their teams through the transition. The conversation will look beyond the tools themselves to examine the pressures, possibilities, and choices shaping the future of learning design and the people behind it.
