406: From Idea to Impact: A Framework for Designing & Executing Effective Gamified Learning
Many gamified learning initiatives stall because instructional designers struggle to connect their ideas to real performance gaps, secure stakeholder buy-in, and define measurable impact.
In this interactive session, you will work through a practical framework for moving gamified learning from idea to executable plan. Using a real-world case study in which a gamified simulation contributed to a 6% reduction in manufacturing waste among newly hired employees, you will see how we identified workflow breakdowns, positioned the solution for stakeholders, and measured impact across multiple departments. Working on a real performance gap from your organization, you will map upstream and downstream workflow dependencies, outline a gamified concept, and draft a value statement tied to measurable outcomes. You will leave with a clear action plan, a structured design canvas, and a repeatable process you can apply immediately as you complete your game.
In this session, you will:
- Diagnose business challenges that are appropriate for gamified learning solutions
- Map workflow dependencies and communication gaps that influence performance outcomes
- Design gamified concepts that reinforce meaningful behaviors and operational clarity
- Craft and deliver a stakeholder-ready value proposition for your gamified solution
Attendees should be comfortable conducting basic gap analysis, discussing operational challenges with stakeholders, and evaluating learning solutions beyond engagement metrics. While prior experience with gamification concepts such as mechanics and engagement strategies is helpful, participants do not need to be experts.
