312: Designing & Building Heavyweight Learning with Lightweight Tools
DevLearn highlights many powerful learning tools, but not every organization can afford or support complex or expensive solutions. Many L&D teams are asked to create effective learning with limited time, small teams, and basic tools. This session is designed for L&D professionals who want to create strong learning that works without relying on high-cost or complex technology.
Instead of walking through specific tools, this session focuses on how to think about learning design. Attendees will explore how to start with the real problem, use constraints to their advantage, and make intentional design choices using simple tools they already have. Real examples will show how lightweight tools can still support meaningful learning and behavior change. You'll have the opportunity to respond to live prompts, reflect on the constraints you face, and discuss short design scenarios with others in the room.
In this session, you will:
- Learn how to design effective learning with limited resources
- Identify ways to use simple tools more intentionally
- Understand how constraints can improve learning design
- Leave with practical ideas they can apply right away
This session focuses on foundational design thinking rather than advanced tools, technical development, or complex systems.
