605: Supercharging ADDIE with AI
The ADDIE model isn't broken, but in a business environment that demands speed, it often feels too slow. Many L&D professionals are stuck using AI for simple tasks like "write an email," missing its true potential to transform the entire design lifecycle.
This session introduces the AI integration matrix—a strategic framework that maps traditional ADDIE phases against three levels of interaction: collaborating with AI (ideation), delegating to AI (automation), and creating with AI (strategic partnership). We'll shift from passive analysis to active hypothesis testing, explore rapid-prototyping to protect quality, and design evaluations that measure return on expectations (ROE). We will apply the framework to real L&D scenarios and use interactive Slido polling to identify common workflow bottlenecks and drive collaborative problem-solving. You will leave with a downloadable AI integration matrix template you can apply to your next project.
In this session, you will learn to:
- Apply the AI integration matrix to the ADDIE model to accelerate analysis, design, and development workflows
- Differentiate between simple automation tasks and strategic co-creation to maximize training quality
- Design "return on expectations" (ROE) evaluation strategies using AI to align training outcomes with business goals
This session is tool-agnostic, focusing on high-level methodology to rewire your workflow, reduce administrative friction, and reclaim time for high-value strategy. It assumes proficiency with the ADDIE model and core instructional design principles. Attendees should be familiar with the five ADDIE phases (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) and comfortable with how they currently apply them in their work. No specific AI tool expertise is required, as the session is methodology-focused.
