404: Heart Emojis Included: How We Engineered Virtual Engagement at Boeing
Many organizations rely on large-scale virtual webcasts to reach distributed teams. While efficient, these sessions are often passive, disengaging, and quickly forgotten. At The Boeing Company, internal engineers were accustomed to one-way broadcasts that delivered information—but not much connection or behavior change. This case-study session shares how Boeing transformed a traditional webcast into an interactive, human-centered learning experience. Through intentional co-design, tailored examples, and shared facilitation, the webcast "Connected, Not Just Present" achieved exceptional engagement, including measurable increases in interaction and participant satisfaction.
This session focuses on active learning. Throughout the session, you will experience the same hands-on tools, techniques, and facilitation methods we used with Boeing engineers, including audience response strategies, engagement architecture, and collaborative design practices. We will share lessons learned, challenges encountered, and practical decisions that shaped the success of this initiative.
Rather than simply describing what worked, we'll share the evidence behind it, including engagement analytics from AhaSlides, participant feedback from Talkadot, Mina's firsthand experience developing as a facilitator, and the evaluation results that demonstrate the impact of this collaborative approach. You'll leave with practical ideas, and proof that intentional, human-centered virtual learning can create meaningful connection and measurable results
In this session, you will learn to:
-
Redesign passive virtual webcasts into interactive learning experiences using a repeatable engagement checklist
-
Select and apply simple engagement tools to increase attention, energy, and emotional connection in remote environments
-
Partner effectively with internal stakeholders to co-create relevant, organization-specific learning experiences
-
Translate engagement techniques into observable behavior change in virtual meetings and training
This session is designed for facilitators, trainers, and meeting leaders who are familiar with delivering sessions in virtual or hybrid environments and have experience using common platforms such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx. You should have basic experience running online meetings or training sessions but do not need advanced technical expertise.
