702: BYOD: Personalize & Streamline Learning in Rise & Storyline Using Pre‑Assessments

November 6, 2026 8:30 am - 9:30 am

Annual compliance training often requires every learner to complete the same lengthy content year after year, even when many already know the material. This leads to disengagement, wasted time, and lower motivation. Adaptive learning paths guided by a pre‑assessment offer a smarter, more efficient way, yet many teams are unsure how to build these experiences using the tools they already rely on, such as Articulate Rise and Storyline.

In this hands-on session, you will learn how to write effective pre‑assessment questions, apply strategies that increase learner engagement, and clearly distinguish the role of a pre‑assessment from that of a final quiz. Together, we’ll build a template that puts these principles into action, supported by a live demonstration of how the adaptive flow is created in both Rise. You will leave with practical templates and a repeatable workflow you can implement immediately.

In this session, you will learn to:

  • Design pre‑assessments that support checking whether learners still have the necessary knowledge to meet compliance requirements
  • Build adaptive short‑track and long‑track pathways in both Articulate Rise and Storyline
  • Create Rise courses that use pre‑assessment results to guide learners to the right content
  • Apply practical assessment design principles to support fair and meaningful learner placement

Attendees need only a basic familiarity with Articulate Rise, such as knowing how to navigate the interface and create simple blocks or slides. No advanced skills are required. The session builds toward intermediate concepts like designing pre‑assessment questions, engaging learners early, and creating short‑track and long‑track pathways.
