SPS100: Going the Last Mile: Turning Behavior Change Into Business Results
“Go the extra mile” is about effort. Going the last mile is about two things: delivery and outcomes—making sure learning reaches the person who has to act, in the conditions where they actually work, and then showing what changed in the business. Too often, L&D builds the right thing, launches it, and reports completions, while the behavior the organization needed never takes hold in people’s day-to-day work, and the results never follow.
This session reframes our role as closing the execution gap between a strategic decision and a changed behavior that improves performance. We’ll examine why transformations stall at the frontline, how to diagnose the behavioral bottleneck rather than default to “more content,” and how to design for adoption where the work happens—through practice, reinforcement, and point-of-work support. We’ll also get honest about measurement: moving from activity metrics to evidence that behavior changed and the business improved.
During this session, you will learn:
- Diagnose the behavioral bottleneck between a strategic initiative and the business result it’s meant to produce.
- Design learning and support for adoption at the point of work, using the stabilize–structure–sustain framework.
- Evaluate success with measures that connect reach, behavior change, and business results—not completions alone.
