202: BYOD: Advancing Accessibility in Learning Experiences with AI Support

November 4, 2026 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Accessibility is essential to reaching every learner. Yet design oversights, such as low color contrast, reliance on color alone for meaning, missing captions, complex interfaces, poor pacing, or overstimulation, can unintentionally limit learning experiences. These challenges appear across modalities, from eLearning modules to live learning events, and can create barriers for learners with visual, auditory, mobility, or neurodivergent needs.

This hands-on session equips you with practical strategies to proactively identify and address accessibility challenges during design and development. You will experiment with prompt engineering to input realistic scenarios, use AI to detect design oversights, and generate ideas for overlooked accessible alternatives. You'll learn how AI tools, including ChatGPT, Copilot, and their agentic features, can serve as collaborative partners in advancing accessibility. You will take home AI-supported strategies to design learning experiences that are more accessible, inclusive, and impactful.

In this session, you’ll learn to:

  • Recognize common accessibility challenges in learning experiences
  • Identify learner accessibility needs across delivery modalities
  • Apply practical, AI-supported strategies to advance accessibility in the design and development of learning experiences

Attendees should have a basic understand of accessibility concepts and an intermediate ability to use large language model chat interfaces such as Copilot or ChatGPT.
