107 Turning Data into Insights that Drive Strategy at Fannie Mae

10:45 AM - 11:45 AM PT
Wednesday, October 25

Tracks: Data & Measurement

You want to start turning the data from your learning ecosystem into insights that guide your people and learning strategy. You’ve integrated all your content providers into a learning experience platform (LXP) and have a learning record store (LRS) to pool your data. So how do you turn data from multiple sources across your learning ecosystem into real-time reports? How do you scope your reporting requirements and then deliver and integrate these new insights into daily business flow? And what are the technical data governance factors to consider when collecting data from multiple sources?

In this case study session you’ll learn how Fannie Mae partnered with Watershed to push learning analytics design. You’ll see how Fannie Mae started their journey by using personas to identify reporting needs. A hands-on exercise will help you develop personas, requirements, and mockups—essential tools for bridging the xAPI gap with stakeholders. Next, we’ll explore how Fannie Mae identified and mapped these requirements to understand the systems and platforms needed to pull the data from, discussing data governance best practices required to enable a “single source of truth,” culminating in user-friendly dashboards that offer reliable, real-time reporting. We’ll discuss how to build data literacy and share the new possibilities your enhanced reporting offers to key stakeholders.

We’ll close the session by discussing the types of insights that Fannie Mae has already discovered, and how their investment in learning analytics enables L&D to move from being reactive to proactive. Discover how smart analysis of data can improve the learner experience and help you deliver more effective learning programs by identifying current pain points and factoring this into future learning design.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to develop reporting requirements using personas in a hands-on exercise
  • How an LRS manages consumption data from various content systems
  • Data governance best practices that enable accurate live-time reporting
  • How to articulate the scope and possibilities of these new data-led insights to stakeholders

Technology discussed:

Watershed Learning Record Store and Analytics Platform, Edcast, LinkedIn Learning, O’Reilly, Docebo, xAPI
